design summary

After updating their branding and services, Howard Brown Health sought a redesign for their series of informational palm cards distributed by the Broadway Youth Center. The cards are a vital tool in spreading awareness about the center’s medical, social, and mental wellness services available to the local community.

At the time, the cards were attracting older teens and youth in their early twenties, many of whom were close to aging out of service eligibility. For their redesign, I experimented with various geometric patterns and bold colors to engage our adolescent target audience. My dynamic design took advantage of the unique palm card format and the cards remain in circulation today.
impact
The redesign enabled the Broadway Youth Center to reach new communities of young people, and resulted in the center meeting their goal of reaching school-age youth on Chicago's south side. The center achieved such a notable increase in the target group accessing services that it necessitated the creation of “Teen Day,” a day of programs and services specifically geared towards clients between the ages of 13 and 19.
